My name is Jane Oakley and I’ve worked in finance since 1991, firstly in accountancy firms, then in industry. I know that most small businesses neither enjoy nor have the time to spend on the administration side, some find it baffling and frustrating, some find it a chore, and a lot find it both! After all, you set up a business to do what you do best, not to do endless admin tasks. Unfortunately though, the paperwork is a necessity, so I want to take that headache away from you and allow you to have the time to build your business to its full potential. I’m happy to offer my services to anyone who needs them, so contact me and see if I can help you.
My background in practice was through a firm of Chartered Accountants, preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and small Limited Companies. I then moved into auditing for small and medium sized limited companies, as well as preparation and review of management accounts for clients on a monthly, quarterly basis, and annual basis. I also prepared VAT and PAYE returns for local businesses along with book-keeping duties including payroll, maintaining ledgers and statement reconciliations.
After eight years in practice I moved to industry and have worked in various different industries over the years as a Management Accountant, Finance Manager and Financial Controller. I have significant experience in a broad range of financial disciplines, from reconciliations right up to producing the Statutory Accounts for an AIM listed company.
Over the years I’ve also been active within local charities and clubs offering treasurer and auditing services and it was through these activities that I realised that helping people to do what they love offered greater job satisfaction than anything I’d done previously. After hearing someone say “If I had to do the bookkeeping I would have given up running my business”, I decided to set up Heatley Accounting Services, to help local businesses concentrate on their business, while I concentrate on helping them.
